Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins - American Hockey League

Wilkes-Barre, PA

A nice new arena, with good sightlines and rabid fans.  The season ticket holder base makes up for the majority of the attendance at the arena (there is a waiting list for season tickets).  Typically, the only way to get tickets is the day of the game, however their website usually will tell you how many tickets are available for upcoming games.  The major negative of this arena is that the concourse is extremely undersized and is jammed in between periods and after the game.  It is virtually impossible to navigate your way through the arena.  If you must get up, do it during the period, otherwise it may take you more that the 18 minute intermission to get back to your seats.

Parking:  The parking lot here has come a long way. For the first few seasons it was not paved and it made for messy travels during the winter months. It has been paved since, but there are no lines so before the games, there are attendants who tell you where to park and you must park in that exact spot.  After the game, the attendants direct traffic as well, poorly I might add.  Getting out of the First Union Arena is a nightmare and can take quite some time as there are only 2 ways in and out of the arena.  Parking is included in the price of your ticket.

Camera policy:  Cameras are allowed in the arena.

Food:  The food at the First Union Arena is pretty good and reasonably priced.  The beer, however, is a bit pricey.
