This is one of our favorite road trips (and one of our first long trips), although the drive seems to take forever on the New York State Throughway. One of the great things about going to Rochester is that you are within driving distance to Toronto if you have an extra day.
The Blue Cross Arena is a nice, older building with good sight lines. Since the winter can be cold in Rochester, it's nice that you can wait inside in the lobby prior to going to the seating areas. The concourse is a bit tight on crowded nights.
Parking: There is ample parking around the arena, with various lots charging $5 or so. You can also park on the streets as well.
Camera policy: Despite signs at each entrance that say that cameras are not allowed, cameras are allowed at the Blue Cross Arena. In fact, this is the only arena that I have been to since 9/11 that didn't search my bag.
Food: The food at the Blue Cross Arena is pretty good and reasonable. Beer is as well.
Arena rating: **** / Food rating: **
