Springfield Falcons

American Hockey League

2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05

Of all of the teams that Jean-Marc has played for, the Falcons jerseys take up the most room in the closet. A lot of this is due to their logo change in the 2003-04 season.

The white old style Falcons jersey was worn in less than 10 games, yet it shows very good wear, including a team-repaired 3 inch cut on the front of the jersey.

The black old style Falcons jersey is game-issued.

If you can stand to look at it, the tie dye jersey is a one-game wonder that when one of the opposing players saw it asked a Falcons player if they were truly going to wear those jerseys that night. That jersey gave the Falcons an advantage as they did win that game, which for the Falcons was rare. Given that I can't see wearing this out in public, this one hangs in a jersey case. Since it is a one-game wonder the jersey shows little wear.

The pre-game skate jersey shows numerous puck marks and pilling on both sleeves.

For the Falcons 10th anniversary, the team decided it was time for a make-over and re-designed their jerseys (fortunately). The only "flaw" of the jersey is that they kept the "talons" on the sleeves except this time they are actually sewn on instead of being dyed into the jersey.

The white jersey was worn for the first half of the 2003-04 regular season and shows very good use. Puck marks consistent with a goalie jersey litter the front along with pipe paint transfer on both sleeves and the bottom hem. There is also a team repair above the "right claw".

The black jersey was also worn for the first half of the 2003-04 regular season. There are a total of 4 team repairs on this jersey in addition to pulls and pilling on the sleeves. Also there are some puck marks on the front crest in addition to red pipe paint transfer on the bottom of the numbers on the back of the jersey.

This jersey was worn on Team Jennifer night in a charity auction where all proceeds went to the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation.   For those not familiar with the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation, it was established in memory of Jennifer Ferraro, the wife of Falcons center Chris Ferraro, who lost her courageous battle with stomach cancer in November 2002. Chris and Peter Ferraro are twin brothers who were co-captains of the Falcons this season. The foundation was created to assist patients with stomach and other cancers. For a one-game wonder, this jersey shows pretty good wear, with numerous puck marks on the front and sleeves.  There is also a small skate cut on the left sleeve.  This jersey is autographed by Chris and Peter Ferraro as well as Jean-Marc.

After the 2003-04 season the Falcons gave the Phoenix Coyotes the boot and ended their affiliation with them early. They then became the AHL affiliate for the Tampa Bay Lightning and that is reflected on their jerseys with the Tampa patch on the shoulder where the 10 year anniversary patch was in the previous season.

Jean-Marc started that season with the Utah Grizzlies (the Coyotes affiliate for that season before they booted the Coyotes out after just 1 season), but was "loaned" back to Springfield in the last two months of the season. I honestly had no intention of purchasing another Falcons jersey, but gameworn.net member aggscards sent me a photo that would clearly photomatch this jersey so I ended up purchasing this one. For a jersey that was only worn in less than 10 games it shows very good use with puck marks and pipe paint transfer.
