Quicken Loans Arena

Cleveland Fighting Walleyes - American Hockey League (starting 2007-08)

Cleveland, OH

The "Q" is the home of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers.  That being said, the arena is much too big for an AHL arena, especially in a city that barely even knows that they have a hockey team.  If you must sit in the lower bowl, go for the seats behind the goals if you want to see all the action.  The problem with the seats between the goal lines is that the glass is higher than the highest row of seating, so you will have an obstructed view of the other end of the rink.  Go for the upper level seats here.   Moving would certainly not be a problem, so go for the cheaper tickets.  The majority of the first row seats were completely empty.  That being said, the concourse is certainly easy to navigate between periods.

Parking:  There is plenty of parking around the arena, including a parking garage with a connecting bridge to the arena.  Parking ranged from $6-$8.

Camera policy:  Cameras are allowed in the Gund Arena.

Food:  The food at the arena was pretty good.  There is a sports bar in the arena with a variety of beers.  A 20 oz Labatts cost $4.50.

Restaurant Recommendations:  Without question, if you are in Cleveland, you must go to the Great Lakes Brewing Company (2516 Market Ave).  It is just a 5 minute drive from the arena and everything about it is excellent.  Saturday nights, they have brewery tours every hour on the hour until 9:00.  One of the great things about GLBC is that it is completely smoke free.  We got there around 6:00, didn't leave until 9:30 and it was packed the entire time.  The food was fantastic.  We first enjoyed the calamari and sausage sampler.  Our entrees included the meatloaf, ribs, burger and bratwurst/pierogi plate.  Each entree was superb.  We all sampled a number of the beers, I thoroughly enjoyed Conway's Irish Amber and the Dortmunder Gold.
